Community Visitors Scheme Print E-mail
Services - General Services

The Community Visitors Scheme supports volunteers from our community to visit residents in local Commonwealth subsidised aged care homes.

What's it all about?

The Community Visitors scheme (CVS) is a federally funded program linking people living in aged care facilities with the wider community.

The CVS aims to enrich the quality of life of residents who may be socially isolated or lonely. Residents are matched with a suitable Community Visitor who then sets time aside to visit the resident on a weekly or fortnightly basis.

Visits may include sharing conversation, reading to the resident, increasing their involvement in activities in the facility, going for a walk, going on an outing or writing a letter for them. Both the resident and the visitor will discuss the types of things they would like to do during the visits.

The CVS operates in the Greater Taree, Great Lakes and Gloucester areas under the auspice of Manning Support Services Inc. (MSS)
